I never liked online forums where comments to the original posts could be rated (+ or - 1) by other readers. But today, I changed my mind. These negative ratings can tell you a lot. There is a Web site www.habrahabr.ru popular among software developers in Russia. Today, someone posted an information about newly released hardware by Apple. You'd say, "No biggies. Apple has a steady and growing group of followers and often releases well designed hardware".
But take a look at the ratings to the people's comments discussing this news http://bit.ly/2tIZQg. Look at the massive negative ratings in comments to the post on new devices (this is just a tiny fragment of all negated comments):
One guy in the middle (-14) is asking, "What are we getting all these minuses for? Is this an anti-Apple campaign?"
The last post (14) in the fragment above reads,"I see that they are negating here, but I'm not afraid! The adequate people will come and will bring my comment to the positive territory, which will start the liberation of this topic from the evil forces! Apples will overcome!"
This picture worth a thousand words. How much hatred is there in that country? Unfuckingbelievable! And this time you can't even blame the rulers of this country. Regular "IT-literate" citizens speak up by voting negative...

To stay "motivated" Russians need to have "the image of the enemy"
Yakov, there is a lot of comments neutral or even negative about Apple in
this topic which a minused down too, so this is just a vandal action, not
more, not less :)
There always will be not-so-rich people who can't afford Apple products and
this is just a dirty projection of their envy\hate\idon'tknow.
I don't blame them and I'm sorry about them and our countries.
BTW, same hate\envy can be targeted on Microsoft too, in another post, so
this is just a "show of the power" of young stupid freaks I guess :)
I thing Yakov you misunderstand one thing. Habrahabr (or Habra) is a very
special resource. They have some kind of flashmobs called Topic of Kindness
and Topic of Evil. If some thread becomes a Topic of Kindness all the
comments there are in plus (by some unwritten convention). And for some
reason this Apple topic became a Topic of Evil. So all the comments are in
minus. I think it is funny if you know the rules of the game :)
I don't read this "special resource" - a reader of this site just sent me a
link to this particular post stating that he haven't seen anything like
this before. But I don't buy such games when a crowd can pronounce a
topic/product/company evil.
Besides, it seems that other people who are posting comments also believe
that this is an anti Apple campaign. The hatred is in the air. This
tradition has been cultivated for years in USSR, and people there are used
to witch hunting, especially, when they can't afford to buy/achieve
something.
Oh, geez. Yakov, you're so serious. I don't know about other countries, but
in Russia there is the term "searching deep sense syndrome" for the
conclusions like yours.
I'm a Russian and habrahabr.ru user too. All this is not serios. On
habrahabr people like organize holywars like this. Dont think, what all
Russians hate Apple, it's not true. This is not USSR, we don't need "image
of the enemy". Simply, we also have enough fools, who make things like
that. I think there are enough trolls on your forums too, just don't feet
it :)
