Started a new podcast: No BS IT

posted Tuesday, 18 August 2009

I started a new podcast where I'll be talking about life in IT, enterprise software development, start-ups, offshoring, looking for a job, passing the interview, changing employers, pros and cons of being a consultant vs an employee, et al.

I won’t bore you with technical details of this or that technology, but this is going to be an open conversation about life of an enterprise developer in the USA. I'll try to keep it 100% BS-less... if this is possible.

Here's the URL: http://nobsit.libsyn.com

You can subscribe to the feed to automatically receive fresh MP3 files as they get published.

Hi Yakov,

I am accepting some of the issues you mentioned regarding outsourcing. you also explained what need to be done as PM like everyday assigning a work and tracking it clearly. Many MNC's are having sophisticated communication net work with the Globe and they are doing their outsourcing job very well. The big MNC's looking india as a profit center.

I think that the mixture of onsite+offshore resources deliver the projects on time with cost effective. As you mentioned while selecting a offshore resource you should conduct interview well. while interview you have to Verify the candidate's percentage of marks from schooling, attidude, communications, analytical capability and technical skills. India is a big country and there is a very big competition in academics(really you can't imagine the academic competion). We have very strong foundation in Maths.India having good institutions like IITs,IIMs,Delhi University and AnnaUniversity.America could find nice engineers from these institutions.

For us (indians) Computer science is just a Vocational subject. The candidates who studied other engineering subjects, life science are better resources than computer science graduates.
